Women – The Roaring 20’s

Healthy aging is one of the last things that women in their 20s are concerned about. At this age, women have clear, smooth and even glowing skin. The average 20-something is more concerned about wearing stylish clothes and hanging out with their friends than about things like heart disease and osteoporosis.

Still, it’s never too early to begin thinking about long-term health and planning for the future and in fact this is the best time to take preemptive measures. A woman’s twenties is the most important time to build healthy habits for life. Sticking to a healthy routine of eating right, working out and following a good skin and body care regimen can make worlds of difference later on.

Eat right for a long life
One of the best things anyone can do to encourage healthy aging is to eat lots of fresh fruits, vegetables and lean meats to provide the energy needed to get through the day. It’s also important to make sure to drink plenty of water and to get enough calcium. Bone mass in the hips and spine peak during the mid-to-late 20s, so building strong bones now will help prevent osteoporosis in the future.

The phrase “you are what you eat,” has never been more true. Eating fatty foods can lead to weight problems, high blood pressure and heart disease later on, while eating healthy, balanced meals will provide energy without the health risks.

Work out to stay strong
Exercise is another one of the most important things women in their 20s can do to ensure graceful aging. Incorporating aerobic exercises, weight lifting and interval training several times a week creates a healthier body and mind.

Young people who exercise not only look and feel better, they are significantly less prone to disease later on in life. Women who exercise while young are 47% less at risk for breast cancer, 45% less likely to be affected by osteoporosis, and 14% less at risk for heart disease. Exercising also enhances natural endorphins in the body, boosting your mood for the day. Individuals with a more positive outlook on life are proven to live longer!

The right attitude is vital
Suicide is one of the main causes of death for individuals in their twenties, so maintaining good mental health is just as important as physical health. This can be done not only by exercising and eating right, but also by managing stress and making sure to make time for family, friends and doing the things you really enjoy.

Looking good = feeling great
When people take care of themselves and put some extra time into their appearance in the mornings, they look and feel better all day. Maintaining high personal hygiene and putting in the extra mile with good cleansers, moisturizers and oil-free, naturally based makeup products will pay off with huge rewards in the long run. If young women take care of themselves with a customized regimen in the morning and evenings and get full night’s sleep, wrinkles and fine lines can be delayed for decades, leaving the skin and body looking fresh and natural.

While the twenties are the most important time to create good habits for lifetime health, most women fail to think ahead and find themselves starting these habits in their thirties or later. While better late than never, it’s important for women in their twenties to acknowledge the aging process and potential health issues so that they can more effectively plan ahead and combat them before they start.
