Women – The Naughty 40’s

When women hit forty, the signs of aging often begin to set in. Women often have less energy. They feel tired and worn down and the body can show these signs even more than the mind.


Smile! A positive attitude can do wonders
There’s no reason that women in their forties have to begin a long roll downhill! The expression “remaining young at heart” is more important than many might think. Much of how people look and feel is directly related to how they think about themselves and life. Optimistic people with a positive, upbeat attitude tend to be brighter, happier, have more energy and appear physically younger than their quickly aging, pessimistic counterparts.

It’s important for women in their forties to keep their chins up and smile! Smiling sends messages of happiness and youth while encouraging the production of natural endorphins that actually do make people happier!

Avoid the sun and take care of the skin
By forty, most women should avoid direct sunlight, making sure to always wear sunglasses and a hat. This protects the skin from sun damage and squinting, which causes crow’s feet wrinkles and brow lines. Another way to prevent wrinkles and slow the physical aging process is to drink plenty of water and be sure to moisturize regularly to keep the skin hydrated and its elasticity high.

Manage stress for maximum health
While women in their forties are generally not as stressed and overwhelmed as women in their thirties, it’s still important to remember to manage stress and take some time every day to just relax and do something they enjoy.

Eat right and work out, gently
Eating right and exercising is just as important as ever during the forties. However, muscles and joints don’t handle strenuous exercise the way they used to anymore and it’s important to be careful to incorporate low-impact exercises and to alternate days, cushioning exercise routines to avoid injury and erosion of the joints and bones.

Despite the fact that some signs of aging might be setting in, women in their forties have just as much potential to look young and beautiful as ever. By keeping a positive attitude, taking good care of themselves and following steps for a customized daily skin and body care regimen, women in their forties can delay the aging process and fight disease, enjoying a much higher quality of life.
