A Summary of Unity Health Insurance Health Plans

Unity Health Insurance offers consumers several different types of health care packages. One plan is the HMO (Health Maintenance Organization) plan. Members of this plan are required to choose a Primary Care Physician (PCP) from an extensive list of network physicians. They will use their PCP for all routine medical services. If a specialist is needed, the member is required to get a referral from the primary care physician. Under this plan, all healthcare management is handled by the PCP.

Unity Health offers a Health Savings Account (HSA) plan to its members. This plan allows the policyholder to establish a tax advantaged HSA, make contributions to it, and then use the funds to pay for qualified medical services and treatment throughout the year. Money that is left over at the end of the year is then rolled over for use in the following year. Health Savings Accounts are always combined with a high deductible health plan, but they do provide lower monthly premiums than some other plans.

Another plan offered by Unity Health is the Individual Health Insurance plan. These plans are specially designed for individuals who do not have access to health insurance coverage from any other source. The copayment plans offer a flat rate for medical services. The coinsurance plan lets consumers pay a certain percentage of the cost for medical treatment and supplies. This percentage is specified in the plan that is purchased. The preventive care option that is provided with these plans includes the cost of physicals, laboratory tests, immunizations, and x-rays.
