Men can take many steps to live long healthy lives not just at a certain age, but at all ages and by maintaining this regime, avoid many of the health problems that affect men as they age.

  • Get a good night’s sleep - Sleeping helps people wake looking refreshed and new.It is also crucial to reducing stress, lowering cortisol levels, and allowing the brain to rest and repair itself. Not getting enough sleep affects one’s ability to think, reasonand cuts into productivity and alertness.
  • Eat lots of fruits and vegetables–Men who have diets high in fruits and vegetables are 70% less likely to develop digestive-tract cancers. It is best to avoid so-called white foods, which are processed and full of enriched flour, sugar, and other ingredients that contribute to elevated blood pressure, weight gain, diabetes, and other largely avoidable health problems. In addition, avoiding dangerous trans-fats such as those found in deep-fried foods and anything made with hydrogenated oils. All these can raise the risk of heart disease.
  • Keep the heart healthy – Exercise, exercise, exercise! A good cardio workout that gets the heart rate going, keeps it strong. It’s also a good idea to integrate weight training into the routine. Nothing beats flab better than good old fashioned weight training.
  • Strengthen the core–Lifting more weight, doing crunches, running around the block – all these will save and strengthen the back and lessen pain.
  • Drink in moderation – An overwhelming amount of evidence shows that one to two drinks a day is actually healthy but drinking excessively is a major no-no.
  • Reduce the risk of prostate cancer – 80% of all cancers can usually be avoided by simply making healthy lifestyle choice. Eating well and exercising are great starts but there are certain foods such as soy, tomatoes, and green tea that can be integrated into one’s diet that will inhibit and block the growth of dangerous prostate cancer cells. Furthermore, taking the nutritional supplements high in selenium and vitamin E can dramatically lower the risk of prostate cancer.
