Lumenos – the Blue Cross Shield Program of Anthem Health Insurance
Lumenos is Anthem Health Insurance’s innovative program that is consumer-led by design as it helps individuals and families plan their healthcare options. With several options available- including options for preventive care- the Lumenos plan can help you improve both your health as well as your budget. Let’s face it, the healthier you remain, the less money you will spend on medical expenses.
In fact, most of the plans offered within the Lumenos structure begin with preventive care coverage. By using the approved providers offered by Lumenos, there is absolutely no cost for preventive care.
The next benefit that Lumenos members can enjoy is a health account which is set up to pay for prescriptions and medical care. Not only can members utilize those funds to cover medical expenses, but they can also earn Healthy Rewards Dollars to cover the cost of future expenses. The money you don’t use from year to year accrues as the funds roll over into the subsequent years.
If you ever find that the Lumenos Health Account doesn’t suit you for whatever reason, you may choose from a number of traditional health coverage options. Traditional plans include: co-insurance and annual out-of-pocket cut offs, annual deductibles and bridging amounts.
The three options open to Lumenos Plan members are:
* Lumenos Health Incentive Account (HIA)
* Lumenos Health Savings Account (HSA)
* Lumenos Health Incentive Account Plus (HIA Plus)
All of Anthem Health Insurance’s Lumenos plans include:
• 100% preventative care
• A health account
• Traditional health insurance coverage
The main difference between the plans is that Lumenos contributions are directly applied to your personal healthcare account and those funds are subsequently used to cover your medical costs.
Every Anthem Health Insurance Lumenos plan member receives:
• Access to an online health assessment tool designed to measure general health,
• Access to a weight management program, a smoking cessation program and/or a personal health coach,
• Access to speedy answers to specific medical issues or routine health questions via a 24-hour Nurse telephone advice line,
• Access to a wide range of online tools that will help you obtain up-to-date information on the quality ratings of hospitals and network providers, provide information on general health and wellness and provide information on prescription drug costs.
